Apollo 11 Earthrise – NASA photo

Neil Armstrong died on August 2012, in Cincinnati OH, about 100 miles from where he grew up. I was reading the newspaper stories at the time, and one mentioned that when William Safire was writing the speech for Richard Nixon to give about the moon landing, he actually wrote two speeches: one for the case where the landing succeeded, one for the case where it failed. A few months later I got an image of him, standing on the moon, looking at the scenery, looking back at the Earth, and this song came out.

Played in Dropped-D (DADGBE), recording is in E.

Recording from “Seven Song Sampler” EP
